Good morning and welcome back to the Spring Break Series!
We’re getting to the time of year where the weather is finally starting to come around for those of us in the northern states. As we go forward with our work week, we certainly understand that it’s important to have some time away to relax. Hopefully you can make it out to enjoy some beautiful scenery, but in the case that you can only get a few minutes to yourself on the back porch, we would like to do what we can to provide you with a taste of paradise.
This week’s drink of choice is the Tequila Sunrise.
This classic drink is especially useful for kicking off a long day on your vacation. The orange juice gives you that much-needed Vitamin C in the morning, and you can customize it and experience all different kinds of sunrises! This drink can be made in a variety of glasses, but we think it looks best in a tall glass, like a pina colada glass or a highball glass.
3 oz. Orange Juice
1.5 oz. Tequila
.5 oz. Grenadine
The drink to making a picture-perfect tequila sunrise is pouring your orange juice and tequila first, over ice. You can stir that if you’d like, but afterwards you’re going to add your grenadine. The grenadine will sink straight to the bottom and give you that beautiful sunrise color. This drink just isn’t right without a garnish, so we recommend adding an orange slice or a cherry as well as an umbrella.
Some variations you may consider with this drink:
Caribbean Sunrise – Using rum instead of tequila
Florida Sunrise – Instead of orange juice, use a combination of orange juice and pineapple juice
