The Caipirinha is a sweet rustic cocktail. Its unrefined consistency makes for a unique cocktail. A little more difficult to make than the classic Martini the Caipirinha takes a bit of bartending know how. Don’t worry, we will walk you through it step by step.
1 oz Raw Sugar cubes
2 oz Cachaca
Add the Raw sugar cubes to your mixing glass. You want to crush them up into a semi-fine powder. Make sure to leave some small chunk to give the Caipirinha its classic unrefined texture.
Cut your lime into small cubes and add to the mixer. Apply steady pressure as you muddle these ingredients. The goal here is to really force the juice of the lime into the raw sugar. This will give your cocktail the most flavor.
Add 2 ounces Cachaca to your mixer. Fill the glass you will pure this cocktail into with ice. This way you don’t add more ice then you need. Shake for 20 – 30 seconds ( click here to learn how to shake a cocktail). Remember as with most shaken cocktails larger ice cubes work better.
Pour unstrained into a glass and serve.
